Precision pipe spool fabrication for demanding industrial projects: robotic welding, AI quality monitoring, and in-house sheet metal.
WJO has commissioned unit SWR 25154, a Novarc Spool Welding Robot, the world's first collaborative robot purpose-built for pipe spool welding. The SWR handles pipe diameters from 2" to 60" across a full range of materials including carbon steel, stainless steel, duplex, and nickel alloys.
An operator sets up a joint on a positioner, initiates the weld, and the SWR autonomously completes every pass from root to cap, freeing the operator to set up the next joint simultaneously. One SWR runs three to five positioners concurrently.
One SWR consistently achieves 60–80% arc-on time, compared to 20–30% typical of manual welding. On carbon and stainless steel pipe, shops see 3 to 12 times the productivity of manual welding, with repair rates consistently below 1%.

A torch-mounted camera streams live footage of the weld zone to NovEye, an AI system trained on a terabyte-scale library from North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Australia. It detects and compensates for HiLo misalignment, inconsistent root gaps, tack welds, and part variations in real time, with ±0.1 mm torch height accuracy.

Fabrication tracking & field management powered by Stratus
“Stratus streamlines piping and plumbing projects by enabling real-time collaboration and seamless communication. With advanced features for fabrication tracking and spool creation, our software transforms BIM into fabricatable spools, optimizing the assembly process. Stratus ensures that design, fabrication, and installation phases are perfectly aligned, enhancing efficiency and precision in every project.

“Stratus Field connects the office and the job site in real time, giving field crews instant access to work orders, spool release statuses, and installation tracking directly from any device. Changes made in the office are reflected in the field immediately, eliminating paper-based workflows and miscommunication.
WJO's pipe fabrication facility holds ASME “P” and “R” stamps covering work throughout the United States, and TSSA Certification for product shipped to Canada. All production welds are performed to qualified Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQRs) tested to ASME Section IX requirements.
ISO 15066 Collaborative Robot
The SWR operates without safety fencing, integrating directly on the shop floor alongside our pipefitter and welding crews. No cage, no barriers.

Pipe Schedules

WJO's fabrication shop is equipped for high-volume pipe prefabrication, from precision cutting to fully assembled, ready-to-install pipe runs delivered directly to the job site.

WJO's fabrication shop runs a TigerStop automated stop-and-feed system integrated with our cold saw, delivering repeatable, precise cut-to-length pipe and material cuts at production volume. The TigerStop eliminates manual measurement between cuts, reducing scrap and setup time while maintaining dimensional accuracy across every piece in a run.

WJO fabricates complete pipe assemblies and gang-fabricated runs in our Livonia shop, coordinated directly with BIM models and construction schedules. Pre-assembled sections arrive at the job site cut, welded, and tested, dramatically reducing on-site labor hours, minimizing field congestion, and compressing installation timelines.
WJO designs and builds complete skids in-house, from 3D model to finished assembly, ready to drop into place on the job site.

WJO operates a dedicated Sheet Metal fabrication shop supporting the full sheet metal needs of our construction and service divisions. All work is produced in-house, giving us direct control over quality and turnaround without reliance on outside vendors.
